The values of Escondido homes for sale are greatly affected by the outstanding natural beauty of the boulder covered mountains surrounding the city.  Nowhere else in the San Diego North County can you get such great views of mountains, valleys, and even the Pacific Ocean as you can get from Escondido homes.  Among the mountains to the east is San Diego’s Mount Laguna with its beautiful snow covered peaks in the winter. To the north are the mountains which are home to Palomar Observatory and to the south is Bernardo Mountain and Black Mountain.

To the west running near Lake Hodges is a lower range of green hills, separating Escondido from the Rancho Santa Fe area. On top of the boulder covered mountains to the north of Escondido is a high end development called the “Street of Dreams.”  These Escondido homes in the Rimrock area have great ocean views. Also, in the mountains to the north, and even many locals don’t know this secret, is “Hidden Meadows.” This is a very large Escondido Real Estate development with all ages and sizes of Escondido homes and a beautiful, championship golf course. Most of Escondido homes for sale are located in the valleys between the mountains. Escondido homes come in a wide range of prices and many varied styles for different income levels. Escondido truly offers the most “bang for your buck” in the North County real estate area. Escondido homes also come on some of the largest lots available ranging from multi-acre avocado groves to one acre ranch style estates.

Old Escondido Homes

Near downtown is Old Historic Escondido real estate area.  There are over 900 Old Escondido homes which were built in the mid 1800’s.  Most of these Escondido homes are small, but have been well maintained or lovingly restored.  They provide great examples of early California architecture.  The Old Escondido Historical District is bounded by 4th on the north, 13th on the south, Escondido Boulevard on the west and Chestnut on the east. There are home tours of some of these special Old Escondido properties available on Mother’s Day. There are also row homes, condos, town homes, and many other types of Escondido real estate.
