Lake San Marcos

Lake San Marcos Homepage:  Lake San Marcos is one of the unsung, and great places to live in San Diego. There are more than 20 neighborhoods, many right on the shores of Lake San Marcos. The lake itself is a real jewel. Originally built in 1946, this 80 acre lake is home to bass, crappie, blue gill and catfish. The new owners of the lake have done great things to improve the community. There is a new Lakehouse hotel, which gets 4 star ratings right on the water. Other Over 55 Communities

There are many other 55 (55+) communities in San Diego North County. In Oceanside there are also Oceana  homesEmerald Lake VillagePilgrim Creek , Peacock Hills, and Villa Trieste homes.  Other Oceanside over 55 homes not included are Pacifica, Costa Serena,  and Rancho Hermosa.   In Carlsbad there are Rancho Carlsbad homes and Camino Hills.    Encinitas has High Country Villas HomesSan Marcos has Las Brisas  and also, in San Marcos, but not designated as over 55, is Lake San Marcos which offers mostly single level homes and tends to be a favorite with the over 55 senior crowd.  Oaks North homes and Seven Oaks homes are both in the inland community of Rancho Bernardo.


Carlsbad Homepage: Carlsbad is a picturesque community about 34 miles north of San Diego and just north of Encinitas. Its downtown runs along the ocean and is just north of the popular Carlsbad State Beach.  The Carlsbad area is surrounded by rolling hills, lagoons such as Agua Hedionda and Batiquitos lagoons, and the Pacific Ocean on the west. It is the home of major tourist attractions such as Legoland and the Flower Fields. Encinitas Homepage: Located south of Carlsbad along the Pacific Ocean and spreading inland is the unique city of Encinitas.
