The Vista CA real estate area covers over 18 square miles (made up of zip codes 92081, 92083, 92084, 92085). Vista is 35 miles north of San Diego and about 90 miles south of Los Angeles. Vista is inland 7 miles from the ocean and is both north and south of Highway 78. It lies just east of S an Marcos, between the major cities of Escondido and Oceanside.
The population of the Vista Ca real estate area is over 91,000. Vista homes are made up of over 28,877 units. Vista has been the second fastest growing city in the North County real estate area. Vista is the inland leg of the Tri Cities area of Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista. The name is Spanish for view.

The Vista Ca real estate area has the same historical start as its surrounding neighbors, namely establishment of the San Luis Rey Mission. The king’s highway, El Camino Real, the path the founding fathers use to walk from mission to mission, passed right through Vista. The city was incorporated in 1963 and has four council persons and a mayor.
The downtown area is undergoing a major revitalization and renovation. Next to the original shopping core is the huge redevelopment project called Vista Village. There is a multi million dollar freeway exchange off Highway 78 designed to serve this area. In addition to a large car dealership, numerous retail shops, and many restaurants, is a new mega movie theater (Metroplex) with stadium seating. Aggressive economic development has attracted over 600 new businesses. The largest employers are the Vista Unified School District, the Watkins Manufacturing Corporation, and the San Diego Superior Court. There has been a recent economic retail boom in the Vista Ca real estate area do to the addition of Costco, Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart, Target Greatland, and the accompanying chains of retail shops and restaurant s. Vista is projected by SANDAG to continue to be one of the fastest growing communities in the North County real estate area.
